In the inland part of the Dalmatian peninsula, our client inherited a set of 150-year-old stone buildings. The goal was to preserve as much as possible while adapting the space for modern living. By carefully designing the interiors and outdoor areas with traditional elements, along with a swimming pool and Dalmatian garden, we created a balanced response to the project’s needs. All existing stone elements were sandblasted to restore their character,
and new additions were made using the same type of stone to ensure continuity. The interiors were structurally unusable and required full demolition. To maintain the stability of the original stone walls without making them too rigid, all new structural elements inside were built in wood. This approach allowed us to respect the past while making the space functional and comfortable for contemporary use.
